What type of homes does KiwiBuild offer?

KiwiBuild homes range from studio apartments to multi-bedroom townhouses. These new homes are sold at different stages of development and can include:

Stand-alone homes 

A freestanding single residential home that can include a yard or outdoor area.

Duplex homes

A duplex (or attached home) is two individual residences that share a wall and can include similar amenities to a stand-alone home.

Terraced homes

Terraced homes are several individual residences in a row that are connected on both sides by shared walls.

Apartments

A self-contained residential home that is part of a larger multi-storey complex. Apartments may share common amenities such as outdoor areas, fitness or recreation facilities, garages or car parks, and building security.

KiwiBuild homes are available in many locations across New Zealand, with new developments announced regularly.

How much do KiwiBuild homes cost?

The price of a KiwiBuild home depends on its size and location. Maximum price caps are used to ensure that KiwiBuild homes remain within reach of more New Zealanders.

The current KiwiBuild price caps are:

Auckland & Queenstown Lakes, studio or one bedroom Capped at $500,000
Auckland & Queenstown Lakes, two bedrooms Capped at $600,000
Auckland & Queenstown Lakes, three bedrooms Capped at $650,000
Wellington, three bedrooms Capped at $550,000
Rest of New Zealand Capped at $500,000

In some cases, available KiwiBuild homes may be sold below the maximum price cap.

Likewise in some developments, larger KiwiBuild homes of four or more bedrooms may be available and will be priced accordingly.
