COVID-19: Information for our buyers, developers and partners
The following information is current as at Thursday, 14 May 2020
KiwiBuild is continuing to follow Government’s advice for all COVID-19 Alert Levels.
Buyers can contact the team on firstname.lastname@example.org and the KiwiBuild website will be updated regularly as the COVID-19 situation develops and more information becomes available.
At COVID-19 Alert Level 2 construction work continues. KiwiBuild Development Managers are working with our build partners so we can deliver more KiwiBuild homes in a safe operating environment.
Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our people, buyers, builders, developers and communities. Kāinga Ora and KiwiBuild build partners must adhere to current Government Health & Safety standards and protocols for all COVID-19 Alert Levels.
You can attend open homes, private viewings and auctions at Alert Level 2, if all requirements for gatherings, hygiene, physical distancing and contact tracing are followed. All home viewings must meet Government Health & Safety requirements. The Real Estate Authority - Te Mana Papawhenua have released guidelines for Alert Level 2 on the Settled.govt.nz website. Please contact the developer or agent of the home you are interested in to discuss your viewing options.
KiwiBuild will continue to accept and process KiwiBuild eligibility applications in COVID-19 Alert Level 2.
Where possible, we encourage applicants to arrange the certifying of these documents by electronic means and we confirm that KiwiBuild will accept documents certified in this manner.

We recommend you also seek independent legal and financial advice where necessary.

My settlement date is scheduled during COVID-19 Alert Level 2, what does this mean for me and what are my options?
During Alert Level 2, where possible, the physical interactions involved in house sale, purchase and settlement must be done remotely. You may be able to do a final pre-settlement inspection in person as long as all physical distancing and health and safety measures are taken.
You can travel between regions for the purposes of moving house, freight can be moved around the country, and moving companies can operate in COVID-19 Alert Level 2 as long as all physical distancing and health and safety measures are taken.
I have been told that completion of my KiwiBuild home may now be delayed, what does that mean for me or my contract?
COVID-19 Alert Level responses will undoubtedly impact the delivery time for some developments and KiwiBuild homes.
We are working with developers to help keep everyone updated and work through any flow-on effects. If you have a specific concern regarding your contract, please contact your solicitor in the first instance. For any general queries, please contact the KiwiBuild Team at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
